I'm off on the road to weight loss! XD

With 25lbs to lose, I'm planning to work very hard. Shedding a pound or two has been one of those annual goals that never seems to get accomplished.. But recent events this year have caused me to re-evaluate how I treat my body. With that being said.. I'm buckling down and getting on track. I want to rock blizzcon again this year, but it'll be more than just because of a neat costume.. I want to look and feel slammin' too!

Here's to staying motivated!!!

Tier 11 Mercurial Vestments

After much deliberation I have decided to share what I'm working on for BlizzCon 2011; Tier 11 Mercurial Vestments from World of Warcraft.

I came to this decision after seeing how far along I was. Basically, at this point, if I don't get this done by BlizzCon, I'm a super slacker; no excuses.

I invite anyone wanting to take a look at progress shots to visit my Facebook fan page. I don't intend on posting to Cosplay.com until after its completion.

I have other costumes on my personal "to-do" list, but I want to approach them with a solid financial backing so I don't have to stop abruptly at any point during production.

With the Tier 11 set, I'm discovering (as always) new techniques and more efficient methods of construction. This costume is primarily made from cloth, has a few hard armor pieces and lighting. I would say the greatest challenge so far has been the wave pattern that is found on the trim of the hood, shirt and skirt.. Although it doesn't appear complex at first glance, I'm had to hand cut every single inch of those waves, go back and carefully sew them on following the wave pattern and hand beading hundreds of tiny crystal beads (currently working on the hood with that last one). With regards to this detail alone, I am incredibly thankful I have until October.
Most of the gold trim you see will be hand made by me using a painted latex compound, and all the crystal-like portions will be custom made by myself using a resin blend.

Thus far, the shirt, hood and skirt have received most of my attention, but are not complete yet.

On the commission side of the house, I'm hoping to start with the new project soon. I really think this is going to be an excellent break for my work. I hope to be living in California soon too (provided a certain job prospect works out) and furthering my experience in costuming. All signs are pointing west for me.. and I'm not going to let anything stop me.

Commissioned!

So I'm really excited, I've landed a wonderful commission that I can't talk about quite yet, but as soon as I can, I will be posting about it :D

On a personal note, I am working on a new personal costume and making great progress on it. I'm experimenting with new costuming techniques and developing my own personal techniques. There is a second costume I'd like to have done before Blizzcon, but for now, my concentration is on the commission and this project.

I also am keeping my fingers crossed for a possible job prospect. I'm hoping it happens; I feel that it will open many doors for me.

Provided I make significant progress on my costume in the next couple months, I will begin posting photo's! I'll likely be posting preliminary photo's in my cosplay.com page found here !

I hope to have a website up soon! So much stuff to do these next few months! @_@ It's nice to be productive though :D

On the horizon..

I know I haven't posted in some time.. I have, unfortunately, been very sick this last month or so.. Long story short, e-coli poisoning sucks massively. I am doing much better though! :)

Things have been looking up, thankfully, and I'm trying my best to get back into the swing of costuming and pursuing other ventures that will affect my near-future. At the moment several things are hinging on a potential commission; I'm just hoping this follows through, I am aching to prove that I can do more costumes and that I'm versatile.

I am working on a personal project at the moment, but I'm not even going to bother talking about it until it's done. I feel like if I mention a project, I jinx it.. so the less I say the better at this point. So far, however, I am pleased with the progress I've made.

A couple of goals may or may not come to fruition by the end of this year.. again, dependent on a few factors. First I want to re-locate to California; potential job, many wonderful friends, and a possible jump start to my costuming career may all be on the western side waiting for me. Second, I want to secure more exposure for my work, and of course increase the body of my work. Budget constraints are killing me right now in the costume making arena. Nothing is worse than wanting to create and having nothing to work with!

Anyway, that's the update, I'm hopeful, cautiously optimistic, and hungry for more. nom nom!
